LGR CONTROLL ROD
OIL FREE alternative compressors use pistons guided by rings called guide pads.
To prevent the natural wear of these from bringing the pistons into contact with their cylinder liners, a series of preventive checks are carried out at intervals.
At the end of 2000, 4000 or 8000 hours of operation, the wear of the guide pads is checked and consists, mainly but not exclusively, of opening the cylinder heads and noting the residual space between the piston and cylinder liner. It is important to remember that this procedure does not guarantee, however, that faster than expected wear and therefore serious damage will occur
- downtime costs
- lost production
- extra maintenance budget
- higher level of spare parts to be kept in stock

THE DEVICE
It consists of a proximity sensor, selected by Meer International’s technical department, which is fixed on the flange of the rod seal at a calculated distance from the rod and then connected by cable to a control unit.
On the front of the control unit is a diagram of the compressor and its cylinders.
Two indicator lights are positioned at each cylinder:
- GREEN light on no alarm
- RED light on alarm
When the red light comes on, the driver is informed that the piston guide pads, to which the alarm refers, have a remaining life of X hours. The value can be determined at the Customer’s discretion with a range between 1500 and 500 operating hours.
